The masons finished the job of building the screed level:
Here we see a hole cut into the blocks to let rain drain through:
As the master mason so astutely pointed out: “We’re not building a swimming pool!” And you can see by the stream of dirt that the hole is doing its job!
The next major construction task is to fill the foundation structure with cement, but before we can do that we need to finish up the wiring plan. So far the plan calls for 3″ PVC pipes for most analog audio signals and 4″ PVC pipes for everything else (digital audio, analog video, digital video, network, etc). The current schematic plan I drew in Inkscape looks something like this:
I am sure we’ll be making some changes before we pour the concrete, but as it stands, each room will have 1, 2, or 3 standard panels 8″x16″ that will carry:
- 8 Analog audio tie lines
- 4 Lines (send or return)
- 4, 6, 12, or 16 Mic lines
- MADI In and Out (except in Music Room)
- 8 Stereo AES lines (4 Out, 4 In)
- 8 Video lines (Composite Video In/Out, SDI In/Out ranging from SD to HD to 3G-HD)
- 2-4 Aviom 16D lines
- 4 CAT6 ethernet lines (with PoE)
- DVI video
- 2 10 GigE ports
- 2 SAN ports
- MIDI etc TBD
That’s a lot of cable and a lot of bandwidth!
Until next week…
